What this assumes

Conversion formulas differ by university, so the one you pick above decides the result
Where a university publishes no official formula, the common ×9.5 convention is used
Percentage and CGPA are not equivalent, and converting either way is an approximation
Some employers ask for the figure printed on your marksheet rather than a conversion

How to show CGPA on your resume

Recruiters spend only a few seconds on an initial resume scan. Make your academic score easy to read.

Always show the scale

Write "8.2 / 10" not just "8.2". Recruiters from different universities may assume different max scores.

Convert only if it helps

If CGPA × 10 gives 82%, add it in brackets. Skip if it's below 60%, CGPA reads better.

Highlight upward trend

"Overall 6.8 / 10 · Recent 2 semesters 8.0 / 10" shows growth. Do this when your final semesters are stronger.

Match the JD

Many JDs say "minimum 7.0 CGPA". Put the CGPA clearly in your Education section, not buried in a paragraph.

Should I put CGPA or percentage on my resume?

Put whichever is higher, but always mention the scale. "8.4 / 10" is clearer than "84%" to most Indian recruiters. If your university uses a letter-grade system, add the conversion in brackets.

What CGPA is considered good for campus placements?

Most service companies (TCS, Infosys, Wipro) filter at 6.5/10. Product companies like Google and Microsoft typically require 7.0+ for their on-campus drives. Finance roles at banks often require 7.5+.

How do I show CGPA improvement on my resume?

Add "Overall CGPA 6.9 / 10 · Last 2 semesters 8.1 / 10": this signals upward momentum to recruiters reviewing hundreds of profiles.

Anna University CGPA to percentage formula

The official Anna University formula is: Percentage = (CGPA × 10) − 7.5. So 8.0 CGPA = 72.5%. This formula is also used by many affiliated colleges in Tamil Nadu.
