    We collect information that you provide directly to us, including:

    • Name and email address
    • Resume content and career information
    • Payment information, handled entirely by our payment processor. We never see or store your full card details
    • Account credentials and preferences
    • Profile information from OAuth providers (Google, GitHub) if you choose to sign in with them

    When you use our service, we automatically collect certain information:

    • Usage data (pages visited, features used, time spent)
    • Device information (browser type, operating system, IP address)
    • Performance metrics (page load times, Core Web Vitals)

    2. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

    2.1 What Are Cookies

    Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help us provide and improve our service. We use both session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) and persistent cookies (remain until deleted or expired).

    Product usage events: We also record which steps people take through ResumeVera, such as viewing a page, starting the checker, uploading a file, exporting a resume or opening checkout, in our own database. These events hold only the kind of page, the tool used and coarse details like file type or a size range. They never contain the contents of your resume, a job description, your name or your email address.

    • With analytics consent, events carry a random identifier stored in your browser, so we can see how a visit moves from one step to the next.
    • Without consent, events carry no identifier and are not linked to your account. They count toward totals only.
    • Raw events are deleted automatically after about 13 months.

    • Essential cookies cannot be disabled as they are necessary for the service to function
    • In the UK, the EU, the EEA and Switzerland, analytics cookies are not set until you accept them. Google Analytics does not load at all until you choose
    • Everywhere else, including the United States, Canada and Australia, analytics load by default and you can turn them off at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer. We honour Global Privacy Control signals sent by your browser
    • Declining, or turning analytics off later, does not limit anything on the site
    • You can change your answer at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer
    • You can clear your browser cookies at any time through your browser settings
    • Your cookie preferences are stored locally in your browser's localStorage

    We use the collected information for the following purposes:

    • Process your resume verification and optimization requests
    • Communicate with you about your account, updates, and promotional offers
    • Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience and site performance
    • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and fraud
    • Measure advertising effectiveness and optimize marketing campaigns

    We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

    6. Data Retention

    We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations:

    • Account data: Retained while your account is active
    • Resume data: Retained until you delete it or close your account
    • Resumes uploaded to the free checker without an account: they can be added to a new account for one hour, and the file is deleted automatically within a day
    • Check a job: the result, and the file if you uploaded one, are deleted after 30 days. Pasted text is not stored
    • Transaction records: Retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance. If you delete your account, they are kept with your email address, IP address and browser details removed.
    • Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymized after 26 months (Google Analytics default)
    • Product usage events: Deleted automatically after about 13 months

    7. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

    Depending on your location, you have the following rights:

    • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
    • Rectification: Update or correct your personal information
    • Erasure: Delete your account and data yourself with "Delete my data" on your profile page. It takes effect immediately and removes your resumes, uploaded files, drafts and job checks. You can also ask us to do it by email.
    • Restriction: Limit how we use your personal data
    • Portability: Receive your data in a structured, commonly used format
    • Objection: Object to processing of your personal data
    • Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for analytics tracking at any time
    • Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell personal information (CCPA)

    8. International Data Transfers

    Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.

    Our service is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

    12. Location Data

    To show prices in your local currency we look up the country your connection comes from, using a database stored on our own servers. Your IP address is not sent to any third-party location service, and we do not store it for this purpose. We derive only the country, never a finer location.
