How we check visa sponsorship

Where the data comes from, how often we check it, and what each label means.

Sources

Where the data comes from

For the UK we use the Home Office register of licensed sponsors for workers. We download it once a day, keep a copy of every version, and record which employers were added, removed or re-rated. Each result shows the date we last checked it. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

Live roles will come from employers' own careers pages. We link to the original advert to apply and do not copy the whole advert.

Labels

What each label means

Employer confirmed. The employer told us in writing that this role can be sponsored. We keep the reply and its date.

Stated in the advert. The job advert itself says visa sponsorship is available. We quote the line and link to the advert.

Licence only. The employer is on the official register of licensed sponsors, but the advert says nothing either way.

Ruled out. The advert says it cannot sponsor, or needs a nationality or security clearance. We do not show these roles.

An employer confirmation expires after 180 days and the role drops back a label until it is checked again.

Limits

What a licence does not tell you

A sponsor licence means an employer is allowed to sponsor. It does not mean a particular role is sponsored, that the salary meets the visa rules for your case, or that you would be granted a visa. Those depend on your circumstances, and only a regulated adviser can advise you on them.

ResumeVera is not an immigration adviser and does not give immigration advice. For advice on your own situation, speak to a regulated adviser.

Corrections

If we get something wrong

If a label is wrong, tell us through the contact page. We fix it, note the change on this page and record the date.
