ResumeVera and Jobscan, compared
Jobscan is best known for comparing a resume with a job description and reporting a match rate. ResumeVera starts somewhere else: which jobs you can actually get, with the evidence for each one, and then a resume that reads cleanly and says nothing you did not write. Every statement about Jobscan below links to the page on its own site we checked it against, on 30 October 2026.
Where ResumeVera differs
Five things we do differently
What ResumeVera is built around. Jobscan describes itself as a way to “optimize your resume for the exact ATS”.
Sponsor evidence from government lists
Check an employer against the government’s own list for that country: the UK Home Office register, US Department of Labor H-1B filings, Canada’s positive LMIA employers, Ireland’s employment permits by company and the Dutch IND register. Each result carries the list’s date and a link to the file.
See how it worksThe posting’s own words on work rights
When an advert says it can or cannot sponsor, or needs an existing right to work, we quote that sentence rather than guess from a keyword.
See how it worksJobs from employers’ own boards
Jobs for you reads the job boards employers run themselves in seven countries and ranks them for your resume, with the reasons in plain words.
See how it worksAn ATS read-back of your own PDF
We read the text back out of the file you will send and name anything that did not come through. It is our own read-back, not an employer’s system, and the free score is labelled as an AI estimate.
See how it worksNothing made up, checked every time
Tailoring, cover letters and answers are checked against your resume. A number, employer or skill you never gave is flagged before you see it, and your own words stay.

|---|---|---|
| Resume against a job description | A free ATS score with no account, labelled as an AI estimate, plus a check of your resume against a job description. | A match rate report. Jobscan says its scanner simulates an ATS, and that the match rate is its own visualization, not a score from the employer’s ATS. The first report is free.Source: jobscan.co, checked 30 October 2026 |
| What a parser reads from your file | The ATS read-back pulls the text out of your PDF and names each field, role or date that did not come through. | An ATS readability section, described as showing how your resume can be parsed and understood by an ATS.Source: jobscan.co, checked 30 October 2026 |
| AI rewriting and invented facts | Every draft is checked against your resume; an unsupported number, employer or skill is flagged and your wording kept. | AI Optimize suggests changes that you accept or reject. We did not find a stated check against invented facts on the pages we read.Source: jobscan.co, checked 30 October 2026 |
| Finding jobs | Jobs for you: roles from employers’ own Greenhouse and Lever boards in seven countries, ranked with reasons. | A job search that matches you with jobs based on your resume, with preferences for industry, role and location.Source: jobscan.co, checked 30 October 2026 |
| Visa sponsorship evidence | Government sponsor lists for the UK, the US, Canada, Ireland and the Netherlands, dated and linked, and the posting’s own words. | We did not find sponsorship filters or data on the job search page.Source: jobscan.co, checked 30 October 2026 |

Everything is on the website: paste a posting to check its work-rights wording, then save it to the job tracker. | A job search tracker that saves jobs from major job boards and can run a resume scan against the listing.Source: chromewebstore.google.com, checked 30 October 2026 |

How we checked
What this page is based on
On 30 October 2026 we read Jobscan’s own public pages and its Chrome Web Store listing, and wrote down only what they say. We name Jobscan only to say which product we mean, we do not quote prices that can change without us knowing, and we will correct anything that is out of date.
What we could not check
- Jobscan’s plan page loads its prices in the browser, and our check could not read it, so we describe how it charges rather than what.
- Which countries its job search covers: not stated on the pages we read.
Something here out of date? Tell us at hello@resumevera.com and we will check it again. See every comparison.
